- Step 1: Cutting foam
Cut the foam as per your preference with correct measurements. It is better to use an electric knife.
- Step 2: Measuring fabric
Measure the fabric carefully and make sure you are taking correct measurements of length and depth
It is necessary to keep all the edges straight while you cut the fabric. Measure the depth of the fabric and cut it carefully.
Make sure the good side of the fabric is facing in, while you fold your fabric over in half-length wise. Measure the length of the fabric and cut.
- Step 4: Sewing down the edge
Using a 1/2-inch seam sew down the edge of the fabric
- Step 5: Marking the folded edge.
At this stage, mark the folded edges with fabric marker of the entire length of the fabric.
- Step 6: Preparing the seams
Now, prepare the seams for box corners.
- Step 7: Measuring box corners
Measure the box corners and be sure it has the same amount of thickness.
- Step 8: Sew along the line
Leaving about 1/4 an inch of excess fabric, sew along the line.
Step 9: Repeat steps 5-7 at the other end of your cushion cover.
- Step 10: Turning cushion cover right side out.
Now, it will look like a big envelop with one long edge open
- Step 11: Put your foam in your cushion cover.
Hold the corner of one end of your foam and place as tightly against the inside box corner of cushion, starting from at one end. After bit adjusting the box corners should line up with the corners of the foam.
STITCHING THE BACK SEAM OF CUSHION
- Step 1: Create a fold at one end
- Step 2: Stitch the top flap down.
- Step 3: Repeat steps 1-2 at the other end
- Step 4: Grab the bottom flap and fold the unfinished edge
- Step 5: Fold the bottom flap up and pin in place folding in the unfinished edge
